The Constitutional Council (CC) has approved Mr. Saman Sri Rathnayake’s name for the Commissioner General of Elections post at the Election Commission of Sri Lanka.

His name was proposed to the Constitutional Council by the Election Commission of Sri Lanka under the chairmanship of Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya.

The appointment of Mr. M.R.C Fernando as a Court of Appeal judge, currently serving as a High Court judge was also approved by the Constitutional Council.

The appointment was proposed by His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena.

The decision was taken at the meeting held by the Constitutional Council chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Hon. Karu Jayasuriya at the meeting room of Speaker’s official residence at 6 pm yesterday. (15th of October 2019)
