The Hon. Speaker announces to the Parliament regarding the vacant seat created in the Tenth Parliament due to the resignation of Hon. Mohamed Sali Naleem from his position as a Member of Parliament |

Hon. Speaker of Parliament (Dr.) Jagath Wickramaratne announced today (Mar. 15) in Parliament that Hon. Mohamed Sali Naleem has submitted his letter of resignation from his position as a Member of Parliament to the Secretary-General of Parliament, and therefore, a vacancy has arisen in the Tenth Parliament.
Accordingly, the resignation letter submitted by Hon. Mohamed Sali Naleem was read out by the Secretary-General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera. The letter stated that the Member of Parliament is resigning from his position in order to contest in the upcoming Local Government Election.
Hon. Mohamed Sali Naleem was elected to the Tenth Parliament from the National List, representing the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.
