Presentation of Reports from the Committees
The Report of the Committee on Public Finance was presented by the Hon. Premnath C. Dolawatte, Attorney at Law, on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
House agreed to the following Motion moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament-
Select Committee of Parliament to look into and identify the mechanisms to be implemented in order to immediately control and eradicate the rapidly spreading drug menace in the country and to submit observations and recommendations to Parliament in that regard
That the time period granted to the Select Committee of Parliament to look into and identify the mechanisms to be implemented in order to immediately control and eradicate the rapidly spreading drug menace in the country and to submit observations and recommendations to Parliament in that regard, as specified in the Resolution passed by Parliament on 01 April 2024 be extended up to 27 September 2024 in terms of Standing Order 102 of the Parliament as the Committee needs further time to report its observations to Parliament.
Private Members’ Bills
(i) The Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Land Development (Amendment)”
(ii) The Hon. Premnath C. Dolawatte, Attorney at Law was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“The Association of Cricket Umpires, Sri Lanka (Incorporation)”
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Bills (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House.:-
(i) Public Financial Management - with amendments
(ii) Economic Transformation - with amendments
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1752 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Friday 26th July 2024.
