Endorsement of certificate on bills
Speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today (09) announced in Parliament that in terms of the provisions of Article 79 of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, he has endorsed the certificates on the Bills titled “Women Empowerment” and “Sri Lanka National Commission for the UNESCO”, on 02 July 2024.

Petitions filed at the Supreme Court
The speaker also informed that he has received a copy of a petition on 2024.07.02 and another copy of a petition on 2024.07.04, filed at the Supreme Court under the Article 121(1) of the Constitution in respect of the Bill titled “Reciprocal Recognition, Registration and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments”, in addition to the receipt of one Petition mentioned in my announcement dated 02nd July 2024.

 The Speaker informed the Parliament that he has received a copy of a petition on 03.07.2024, filed at the Supreme Court under Article 121(1) of the Constitution in respect of the Bill titled “Immigration”.
