Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker endorsed the certificate on the Sri Lanka Electricity Bill on 27.06.2024 in Parliament.

This Bill was presented to the Parliament on the 25th of April 2024, which aims to make necessary arrangements for the implementation of reforms in the electricity sector. Then on June 6th, 2024, following the debate in Parliament, the Bill was passed with a majority of 44 votes.

Accordingly, this Bill comes into force as the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 36 of 2024.
