A delegation from the Ministry of Planning in Bangladesh visits the Sri Lanka Parliament for an exchange visit on National Planning and Evaluation |

An exchange visit consisting of delegates from the Ministry of planning in Bangladesh and the Implementation Monitoring Evaluation Division (EMED) and the Bangladesh Evaluation Society had a cordial discussion with the Chair of the Global Parliamentarian Forum for Evaluation Hon. Kabir Hashim, Member of Parliament. Secretary of the Forum Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake and Member of Parliament Hon. (Dr.) Kavinda Jayawardhana was also present at the meeting held.
This meeting was held recently (Jun. 07) in Parliament and was Chaired by Hon. Kabir Hashim, Member of Parliament, the Chair of the Global Parliamentarian Forum for Evaluation.
The importance of strengthening the role of Parliament in policy making by using evaluation processes were discussed during the meeting held. Furthermore, in the context of Eval Colombo 2018, Hon. Kabir Hashim, Member of Parliament stated that the Colombo Declaration on Evaluation signed in the Parliament of Sri Lanka has become the main guideline for the institutionalization of evaluation in the Sri Lankan Parliament and an initiation has been taken to institutionalize evaluation based on the principles of that declaration.
The delegates complimented the Government of Sri Lanka for the efforts made towards establishing and evaluation culture within the public and private sectors in the country, including the National Evaluation Policy Implementation Framework following the adoption of the National Evaluation Policy.
Former Member of Parliament Hon. Mylvaganam Thilakarajah was also present at the meeting held.
