Parliament of Sri Lanka congratulates Hon. Narendra Modi on his re-election |

Several Ministers and Members of Parliament including Prime Minister Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena and Leader of the Opposition Hon. Sajith Premadasa recently (June 05) congratulated Hon. Shri Narendra Modi on the victory recorded by his party BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Indian elections.
Prime Minister Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena said that Prime Minister Hon. Modi was a unique leader who conveyed a huge message to the world. He also mentioned that the Prime Minister of India, the giant of parliamentary democracy today is of extreme significance. ‘’Also, remembering the friendship and unity with the Asian countries as well as the active support with Sri Lanka, through the victory secured by Prime Minister Modi is very important and I wish India would obtain new achievements,’’ he said.
The Prime Minister said that Sri Lanka is committed to work together with India to overcome challenges and explore new opportunities for enhancing co-operation.
While extending congratulations to the Indian Prime Minister Hon. Narendra Modi, Opposition Leader Hon. Sajith Premadasa acknowledged the strong bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and India and expressed gratitude for India’s significant support that India has provided when Sri Lanka has been suffering from a variety of challenges including economic bankruptcy. “We have seen the brotherly neighborhood relationship between the two countries as India is the largest single donor to Sri Lanka in grants, loans and financial support,’’ he said.
The Opposition Leader highlighted that Modi is the first Prime Minister since Sri Nehru to accomplish such a feat, attributing this success to Modi’s visionary leadership, practical policies, and effective governance.
He also pointed out that Prime Minister Modi has been able to lead India to massive economic growth from a low economic position through a people-centered economic policy.
Several Ministers and Members of Parliament also congratulated on the victory of the Indian Prime Minister Hon. Modi.
