Official Oath or Affirmation by New Members

The Hon. Mohamad Mujibur Rahuman was sworn in as a Member of Parliament before the Hon. Speaker to fill the vacancy created in the membership of the Ninth Parliament in pursuance to the judgment of the Supreme Court disqualifying the Hon. (Mrs.) Diana Gamage to be a Member of Parliament.

Presentation of Reports from the Committees

(i)    The Report and the Minutes of the Legislative Standing Committee on “Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Bill” was presented by the Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker, the Chair of the Committee.
(ii)    The Report and the Minutes of the Legislative Standing Committee on “Dedigama Sri Maithri Pragnartha Bouddha Educational Daham Sabhawa (Incorporation) Bill” was presented by the Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, the Deputy Speaker, the Chair of the Committee.
(iii)    Two Reports of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Food Security and Agriculture was presented by the Hon. D. Weerasinghe, the Chair of the Committee.

Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled

“Sri Lanka Telecommunications (Amendment)”

to amend the Sri Lanka Telecommunications  Act, No. 25 of 1991.


Votes of Condolence

Votes of Condolence on the following Ex-Members of Parliament were taken up and completed:-
(i)    The Late Hon. U.L.M. Farook
(ii)    The Late Hon. Asoka Jayawardena
(iii)    The Late Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1349 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Monday 13th May 2024.
