Weerasena Gamage takes the official oath / affirmation as a Member of Parliament |

Mr. Weerasena Gamage was sworn in as a member of the Ninth Parliament today (Apr. 24) before the Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker.
After taking the official oath/affirmation before the Speaker, he then signed the Member roll kept before the Secretary General of the Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera.
Mr. Weerasena Gamage was thus appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Hon. H. Nandasena, who was a Member of Parliament representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna from the Anuradhapura district.
Born in 1945, Mr. Weerasena Gamage completed his education at Kekirawa Madhya Maha Vidyalaya. Starting his political career in 1991, Mr. Weerasena Gamage was elected as a member to the Kekirawa Pradeshiya Sabha from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party serving as its Opposition leader.
Mr. Weerasena Gamage, who contested the North Central Provincial Council elections, was elected from the People's Alliance, has served as the Acting Chief Minister for the greatest number of times. He has also held the position of Minister of Industry and Health of the North Central Provincial Council.
In the 2020 General Election, Mr. Weerasena Gamage contested under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and won the sixth position in the Anuradhapura district. He is the Chief Organizer of the Kekirawa Constituency of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and was also the Chairman of the Machinery Design Institute of the North Central Province.
Mr. Weerasena Gamage, who is married to Mrs. Malani Chitralatha, is father to five sons and a daughter.
