(ii)    The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education was presented by the Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan, the Chair of the Committee.
(iii)    The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Energy & Transport was presented by the Hon. Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, the Chair of the Committee.

Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled

“Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment)”

to amend the Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act, No. 4 of 1990.


Private Members’ Bills

The Hon. D. Weerasingha was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Institute of Facilities Management Sri Lanka (Incorporation)”


Main Business of the House for Today

Vote of No Confidence against Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, the Speaker (appearing as Item No. 1 of today’s Order Paper)

was defeated after having taken a division (75 in favour; 117 against).


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1711 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Friday 22nd March 2024.
