PARLIAMENT

His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa presided at the Ceremonial Sitting of Parliament at 9.40 a.m. for opening of the Fourth Session of the Sixth Parliament.

The Acting Secretary-General of Parliament read the two Proclamations issued by His Excellency the President proroguing Parliament and Summoning the Meeting. His Excellency the President addressed the Parliament.

Thereafter, the Hon. Chief Government Whip of Parliament moved two motions to effect that the Parliament shall Sit at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1035 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 26th May 2009.
