PARLIAMENT

A ‘Bodhi Pooja Pinkama’ to invoke blessings for the new year was held today morning (04) under the patronage of Hon. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena at Parliament premises.

The ‘Bodhi Pooja Pinkama’ was conducted by the Chief Incumbent of the Kotte Sunethraramaya, the Chief Sanganayake of the Kalutara & Colombo divisions, a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Buddhism and Pali, the Dharmacharya of the Nalanda College, Venerable Alikewala Seelananda Thero.

Minister of Education and Leader of the House of Parliament Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Highways and Chief Government Whip Hon. Johnston Fernando, Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake, Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff Kushani Rohanadeera, Assistant Secretary General Tikiri K. Jayatilleke, Heads of Departments, Parliamentary Staff and affiliated staff were also present at the occasion.

The ‘Bodhi Pooja Pinkama’ was organized by the Parliamentary Staff Buddhist Society and the welcome address was delivered by the President of the Association Shantha Weeraratne explaining its purpose.
