Presentation of Bills

The Bill entitled "Urban Settlement Development Authority"

The Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development moved the Bill to provide for the establishment of an Urban Settlement Development Authority to formulate National Policy in relation thereto and to ensure the implementation of such policy; to provide for the improvement of the living conditions of persons living in underserved urban settlements by upgrading available housing units or by providing better housing facilities and access to minimum Urban Services in order to ensure a sustainable Urban Settlement Development; and to provide for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items were passed by the House;

(i) Supplementary Sum - Head 112 - Programme 2: (Rs. 2,880,180,332)

(ii) Notification under the Consular Functions Act, No.4 of 1981 regarding the fees levied for consular services


Motion at Adjournment Time

Motion at Adjournment Time regarding “Madhu Church religious activities recommencement” was moved by the Hon. Jayalath Jayawardana.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1627 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Wednesday, 23rd July 2008.
