The 2020 Appropriation Bill passed in Parliament without a vote today (12).

The Appropriation Bill was taken up for debate today morning following the budget speech presented by the Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill was passed without a vote post marking the objection extended by the Opposition. Following the Second Reading, the Third Reading was passed without a vote with many amendments added.

Accordingly, the 2021 Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be presented in Parliament on the 17th of November 2020 by the Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa and the budget debate will continue until the 10th of December.
