Presentation of Bills

The Bill entitled “Grant of Citizenship to Persons of Chinese Origin (Special Provisions)”

The Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration, and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order, moved the Bill to make provision for the grant of the status of a citizen of Sri Lanka to persons of Chinese Origin; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.


Main Business of the House for Today

The Bill entitled “University of Vocational Technology”

was taken up for Second Reading and passed by the House with amendments.

Regulations under the Urban Development Authority Act

were withdrawn by the Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development with the leave of the House.

Bills entitled,

“Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development (Incorporation)”
“Buddhist Cultural Centre of Nedimala, Dehiwala (Incorporation)”


were considered and passed by the House.


Motion at Adjournment Time

Adjournment Motion on “Damages to Peradeniya Gatambe Rajopavanaramaya due to development project of Kandy-Colombo Highway” was moved by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1500 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 8th July 2008.
