Date : | 22-07-2020 |
When other countries depended on PCR testing as a mechanism to face the global pandemic, Sri Lanka adopted to trace people who may have been exposed to the virus taking immediate measures to quarantine them, “ We adopted to trace, trace and trace,” stated Dr. Priyanga Ranasinghe, of the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka.
She stated the above at a conference held on Safety Practices to Prevent COVID19 for the Parliament staff yesterday (21) at the Parliament Complex, hosted by the Communication Department of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, Dr. Priyanga Ranasinghe emphasized the Sri Lankan Health Service worked dedicatedly to manhunt patients and provide them with medical assistance whilst many patients across the world were deprived or had no easy access to medical services.
Dr. Ranasinghe also instructed the staff to be mindful when purchasing fabric masks as some are made using second hand fabric. She further emphasized the importance of being informed through reliable sources at all times stating that everyone can be duly informed through the hotline by dialing 1999.
The Secretary General of Parliament Dammika Dassanayake, the Deputy Secretary General Neil Iddawala, Assistant Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera, Heads of Departments and the staff of Parliament were present at the special conference conducted on Safety Practices to Prevent COVID19. This was also broadcasted live through the official Parliament Facebook page as a webinar conference for the benefit of the public.
