PARLIAMENT

His Excellency the President by virtue of the powers vested in him by Article 70 of the Constitution to  be  read  with  Sub-paragraph  (c)  of  Paragraph  (2)  of  Article  33  of  the  Constitution and in pursuance of the provisions of Section 10 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, No. 1 of 1981, dissolved the Parliament with effect from the midnight of 02nd  of March 2020 and summoned the new Parliament to meet on the 14^th of May 2020.

In addition to this, the date for the Parliamentary General Election has been fixed to 25.04.2020, and the nomination period has been specified as 12.03.2020 to 19.03.2020.
