Fifty Five government institutions, which have achieved high performance in the year 2018 received Gold Awards from H.E. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Parliamentary Complex Today (28).

Meanwhile, 23 government institutes received Silver Awards for their performances in year 2018 from the Speaker Hon. Karu Jayasuriya at this event.

The Committee on Public Accounts chaired by State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna introduced a Computer Networking System in 2016 to Evaluate the State, Provincial Councils and Local Government based on the previous fiscal year with a mission of streamlining financial and performance aspects of Government Institutions.

In 2018, 844 institutions of State, Provincial Councils and Local Government were recognized out of which, 109 selected institutions were finalized to be awarded.

The awards were presented under the categories of main Expenditure Units of Government, Government Ministries, Government Departments, District Secretariats, Provincial Council Funds, Provincial Ministries / Departments / Special Expenditure Units, Provincial Authorities, Municipal Councils, Urban Councils and Provincial Councils.

Under the category of main Expenditure Units of Government, the Prime Minister's Office, Office of the Chief Government Whip of Parliament and the Finance Commission have won the Gold Award. From the Government Ministries, Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Buddhasasana received Gold Awards from H.E. the President.

Meanwhile, Department of Development Finance, Department of External Resources, Department of Management Audit, Department of National Planning, Department of Treasury Operations, Department of Legal Affairs, Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, Department of Public Finance, Co-operative Employees Commission, Department of Buddhist Affairs, Department of Public Enterprises and Department of Social Services were the winner of the  Gold Award in Government Departments category.

District Secretariat Jaffna and District Secretariat Kurunegala received Gold Awards and following departments in the Provincial Councils also received Gold Awards from the President.
