Date : | 10-12-2019 |
Today marks the world Human Rights Day. Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10th December – the day United Nations general Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). It draws the attention of value of important concepts such as equality, respect, stability, participation, accountability, feedback and the rule of law based on universal values.
While mentioning that it should not be limited to theoretical discourse, Deputy Speaker Hon. Ananda Kumarasiri stressed the importance of active participation of the youth in Human Rights Day.
