Hon. Sujeewa Dissanayake,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)

(a) Will he inform this House of the —

(i) number of reservoirs, large-scale tanks, and small-scale tanks in Sri Lanka, separately;

(ii) number of such tanks and reservoirs in the Kurunegala District, separately;

(iii) number of tanks and reservoirs that have been restored, out of them in each year during the last ten (10) years, separately; and

(iv) projects that were implemented to restore the said tanks?

(b) Will he also inform this House —

(i) whether an irrigation project known as ‘SARP’ is underway in Sri Lanka;

(ii) of the number of irrigation projects that have been restored under the above project;

(iii) whether the ‘SARP’ project was implemented in the Kurunegala District;

(iv) of the manner in which provisions were obtained for the said project;

(v) of the total amount of provisions obtained accordingly;

(vi) of the allocation made for the Kurunegala District, out of them; 

(vii) of the parts of a tank that have been restored under the project concerned; and

(viii) whether the project is currently underway?

(c) If not, why?
