Hon. Danushka Ranganath,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)

(a) Will she inform this House —

(i) whether there are any Tamil medium government schools in the Kalutara District;

(ii) if so, of the number of such schools; and

(iii) of the number of schools, that provide education up to G.C.E. (O/L) and up to G.C.E. (A/L), out of the above-mentioned schools, separately?

(b) Will she also inform this House—

(i) of the names of the schools in the Kalutara District where G.C.E. (A/L) subjects can be studied in the Tamil medium;

(ii) of the number of schools, where Arts and Commerce subject streams can be studied in the Tamil medium, out of those mentioned above;

(iii) whether there are any schools where Mathematics, Science and Technology subject streams can be studied in the Tamil medium; and

(iv) if not, of the reasons for that?

(c) Will she further inform this House—

(i) whether there are any government schools in the Kalutara District where all the streams can be studied in the Tamil medium;

(ii) if not, of the reasons for that; and

(iii) whether steps will be taken to establish at least one such school in the Kalutara District?

(d) If not, why?
