The draft of the National Education Policy Framework presented by the Parliament recently was discussed in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education. This was discussed at the sectoral Oversight Committee on Education, chaired by Member of Parliament Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan, held in Parliament recently (Dec. 07).

The draft of the above policy framework was discussed when this committee met on the 23rd of November and the Members of Parliament who were present at the Committee made several suggestions regarding the draft. Accordingly, the amendments made regarding those proposals were discussed in the Committee.

Secretary to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for preparing the National Education Policy Framework Mr. Anura Dissanayake and Mr. Nihal Ranasinghe, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, discussed the new amendments submitted to the draft of this policy framework. Accordingly, the Chair of the Committee mentioned that a program will be organized to aware all members of Parliament about the said draft in the future.

Moreover, the youth representatives assigned to the Committee also participated and presented their ideas to the committee as per the permission of the Chair.

The members of the committee, Hon. Mr. S. Sreetharan, Hon. Muditha Prishanthi, Hon. Manjula Dissanayake, State Minister Hon. Lasantha Alagiyavanna, and Members of Parliament Hon. Charles Nirmalanathan, Hon. Rajika Wickramasanha, Hon. Selvaraja Gajendran participated in this meeting with the permission of the Committee Chair.
