Ministerial Consultative Committee agree to the regulation under the Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203) |

Regulations made by the Minister of Transport under section 237 read with section 126 of the Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203), published in the Gazette dates 31st March 2022 was approved at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Transport and Highways held recently (16).
The approval for the aforesaid was received at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Transport and Highways which met in Parliament under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport and Highways and Minister of Mass Media, Hon. (Dr.) Bandula Gunawardana.
These regulations temporarily extend the validity period of driving licenses. Accordingly, these regulations are to be submitted for the approval of the Parliament. Furthermore, Hon. (Dr.) Bandula Gunawardana instructed the officials to give a brief report on all the institutions which are affiliated to the Ministry of Transport and Highways at the next committee meeting.

SM Marikkar, Hon. Sanjeeva Edirimanna, Hon. Upul Mahendra Rajapaksha, Hon. Asanka Navaratne, Hon. Mohomad Muzammil, Hon. UK Sumith Udukumbura, Hon. Madhura Withanage, Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi and Hon. Yadamini Gunawardena were present at this Committee meeting held.
