Industrial Disputes (Amendment)

The Hon. Chief Government Whip of Parliament on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Labour and Labour Relations moved a Bill to amend the Industrial Disputes Act (Chapter 131).


Select Committee of Parliament to Inquire and Report on Strengthening the Independent Character of the Parliamentary Service

House agreed to a Motion moved by the Hon. Chief Government Whip of Parliament for a further extension of time till 30th of November 2011.


Main Business of the House for Today

Following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

• Order under the Sri Lanka Export Development Act
• Regulations under the Tea Small Holdings Development Law


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Arrest of Trade Zone workers” was moved by the Hon. Akila Wiraj Kariyawasam.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1914 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Thursday 25th August 2011.
