Presentation of Bills
Food (Amendment)
The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Health moved a Bill to amend the Food Act, No. 26 of 1980.
The Hon. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "Mahamewnawa Sadaham Sevawa (Incorporation)".
The Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "to provide access to Free Education to all Children in Sri Lanka".
The Hon. Tharanath Basnayaka was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "S.B. Nawinna Foundation (Incorporation)".

Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance
Resolution moved by the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Buddha Sasana & Religious Affairs that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 03rd February 2011, was approved.
Accordingly, the Emergency Motion was approved by Parliament with a majority of 109 votes, extending it for another month. 121 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 12 votes were against it.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Floods” was moved by the Hon. M.A. Sumanthiran.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 2030 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 9th February 2011.
