Main Business of the House for Toda

The following Bills (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House with amendments:-

(i) Protection of the Rights of Elders (Amendment)
(ii) Mediation Boards (Amendment)


Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance

Resolution moved by the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Buddha Sasana & Religious Affairs that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 18th January 2011, was approved.

Accordingly, the Emergency Motion was approved by Parliament with a majority of 118 votes, extending it for another month. 123 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 05 votes were against it.


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on "Establishment of National Theatre for performing Arts" was moved by the Hon. Rajiva Wijesinghe.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1847 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 8th February 2011.
