Presentation of Bills
Protection of the Rights of Elders (Amendment)
The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Hon. Minister of Social Services moved the Bill to amend the Protection of the Rights of Elders Act, No. 9 of 2000.
The Hon. (Mrs.) Sriyani Wijewickrama was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "Kudabuthgamuwa Sri Piyadassinarama Viharasthana Performance Society (Incorporation)".
The Hon. (Mrs.) Malani Fonseka was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "Leaster James Peries and Sumitra Peries Foundation (Incorporation)".

Regulation of Insurance Industry (Amendment) Bill - Second Reading
moved by the House, passed and Committee Stage of the Bill was postponed.
Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance
Resolution moved by the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Buddhasasana & Religious Affairs that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 29th December 2010, was approved.
Accordingly, the Emergency Motion was approved by Parliament with a majority of 111 votes, extending it for another month. 134 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 23 votes were against it.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1854 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Thursday 6th January 2011.
