Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs moved the following Bills:-

Secretary to the Treasury (Nomination of Representative)

to provide for the secretary to the treasury to nominate persons from either the ministry of the minister to whom the subject of finance is assigned or any department of the general treasury to be his representative in instances where legislation has provided for the secretary to the treasury to be a member of any committee, authority, board or institution established by such legislation; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Default Taxes (Special Provisions)

to provide for a streamlined and speedier process for the recovery of taxes in default in a time bound manner; to provide for the writing-off of taxes in default in certain circumstances and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

Gaming (Special Provisions)

to provide for the designation of areas in which persons intending to start the business of Gaming can set up their establishments and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka (Repeal)

to provide for the repeal of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 1 of 1996; to make provision consequential to the repeal of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No.1 of 1996; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment)

to amend the Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act, No.4 of 1990.

Regulation of Insurance Industry (Amendment)

to amend the Regulation of Insurance Industry Act, No. 43 of 2000.


The Hon. Thenuka Vidanagamage was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled "Olagangala Maha Sudarshana Paropakari Foundation (Incorporation)".

Four Determinations under the Constitution

were passed by the House.


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment time on “Lands in Monaragala District transferred to Private Companies” was moved by the Hon. R.M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1850 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Thursday 21st October 2010.
