Presentation of Reports from the Committees

(i)    The Report of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Investment Promotion was presented by the Hon. Yadamini Gunawardena, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chair of the Committee.
(ii)    The Report 1 of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on An Open & Accountable Government was presented by the Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi, the Chair of the Committee.
(iii)    The Report 2 of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on An Open & Accountable Government was presented by the Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi, the Chair of the Committee.

Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, State Minister of Finance replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Anura Dissanayaka under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 19.07.2023 regarding Banning of wheat flour importation.

Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled

“Appropriation (Amendment)”

to amend the Appropriation Act, No. 43 of 2022.


Privilege

The Privilege motion that the question of privilege arising out of the matter raised by the Hon. G. G. Ponnambalam, M.P. on 08th June, 2023 in Parliament to the effect that his privileges have been infringed, moved by the Hon. Chief Opposition Whip, was referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 118 of the Parliament.


Main Business of the House for Today

Following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House.:-
(i)    Central Bank of Sri Lanka Bill - with amendments - Division was taken at the Second Reading (66 in favour; 24 against)
(ii)    Resolution under the Essential Public Services Act


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment time on “Acting Principals' Permanent appointment and Salary anomalies of Teacher Advisory service” was proposed by the Hon. Kumarasiri Rathnayaka.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1813 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Friday 21st July 2023.
