Presentation of Bills
The Bill entitled "National Institute of Textile and Clothing"
The Minister of Industrial Development moved the Bill to provide for the establishment of the National Institute of Textile and Clothing; to provide for the development and sustainability of the textile and apparel industry; to conduct training programmes and workshops in textile and clothing technology, management and related areas for local and foreign students; to provide technical and consultancy services to foreign countries; to provide for the repeal of the Clothing Industry Training Institute Act, No.3 of 1984 and the Textile Training and Services Centre Act, No.4 of 1984 and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

"The Lasantha Alagiyawanna Foundation (Incorporation)"
Hon. (Ven.) Kotapola Amarakithti Thero was granted leave to introduce the Bill.

The following items were passed by the House:-
(i) Marine Pollution Prevention Bill – Second Reading
(ii) Regulations under the Forest Ordinance
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “the Proposed Indo - Lanka Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Partnership (CEPA)” was moved by Hon. Wimal Weerawansa.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1658 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Wednesday 6th August 2008.
