Hon. Imran Maharoof,—To ask the Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Housing,— (1)

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) separately, of the names of the areas in the Trincomalee District that have been provided with drinking water by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and those areas that have not been provided so;

(ii) whether he is aware that around 5000 families living in the areas of Kuchchaveli, Pudavaikattu, Tiriiai and Salappaiyaru, which belong to the Kuchchaveli Divisional Seretariat Division, have faced immense difficulty in obtaining drinking water as the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has not provided driniking water to those areas;

(iii) whether plans have been made to provide drinking water to the said areas expeditiously ;

(iv) whether plans have been made to improve the drinking water facilities in the Trincomalee District as a whole?

(b) Will he also inform this House of the —

(i) number of hours for which the drinking water supply was disconnected in the Kinniya Divisional Secretariat Division from 01.01.2022 to 01.01.2024; and

(ii) main reason for the aforesaid disconnection of the water supply ?

(c) If not, why?
