PARLIAMENT

State Minister Hon. Lasantha Alagiyawanna was unanimously appointed as the new Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) Chair by the members representing the government and the opposition. The first meeting of COPA for the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament was held today (Mar. 07) at Parliament.

There the name of State Minister Hon. Lasantha Alagiyawanna was proposed by Hon. Vajira Abeywardena and Seconded by Hon. S. Sritharan.

The new Chair discussed the future activities of the Committee with the present members and stated that he expects the support of all the Committee members to make these future activities successful.

Hon. State Ministers Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva, Prasanna Ranaweera, Diana Gamage, Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, as well as Hon. Members of Parliament Tissa Attanayake, Vajira Abeywardena, A.L.M. Ataullah, Niroshan Perera, Ashok Abeysinghe, Jayantha Katagoda, Hector Appuhami S. Sritharan, M. Udayakumar, (Dr.) Major Pradeep Undugoda, attended this meeting.
