PARLIAMENT

The inaugural meeting of the Caucus for Protection of Hill Country was held recently (Dec. 06) to which Hon. Wasantha Yapabandara was appointed as the Chair. Accordingly, Hon. Wasantha Yapabandara, Memebr of Parliament was nominated by Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan and was seconded by Hon. Nimal Piyathissa.

Thereafter, Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan and Hon. Nimal Piyathissa were appointed as the two Deputy Co-Chairs to the said Caucus.

The newly appointed Caucus Chair emphasized the imperative need for the protection of the Hill country and mountain areas and discussed the future frame work of the Caucus.

Hon. Nimal Piyathissa, Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan, Hon. Waruna Liyanage, Hon. W. H. M. Dharmasena, Hon. Mohomad Muzammil, Hon. Abdul Haleem, Hon. Udayana Kirindigoda, Hon. Weerasumana Weerasinghe were present at this Caucus meeting held.
