PARLIAMENT

The attention of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education was recently drawn to the report on the National Education Policy Framework which was presented to Parliament recently.

This was discussed at the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education, presided over by Member of Parliament Hon. (Dr.) V. Radhakrishnan on 23.11.2023 in Parliament.

Secretary to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for preparing the National Education Policy Framework Mr. Anura Dissanayake, explained about this Policy Framework.

Thus, the future plans of national education and the summary of the main transformations expected to be carried out were discussed at length in various sectors.

Members of the Committee, Hon. Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Hon. Asanka Navaratne, Hon. Manjula Dissanayake and Hon. (Prof.) Charita Herath participated in this meeting and with the permission of the Chairman of the Committee, Member of Parliament Hon. Weerasumana Weerasinghe was also present.

Also, the Ministry of Education, the National Education Commission and the parties involved in preparing this policy framework participated in this meeting. The youth representatives attached to the committee were also present and expressed their views to the committee as per the permission of the committee chair.
