Ministerial Statements
Hon. (Dr.) Bandula Gunawardana, Minister of Transport and Highways and Minister of Mass Media made a Ministerial Statement regarding harassment and difficulties faced by CTB employees.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 4 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House.:-
(i) Regulation of Election Expenditure Bill - with amendments - Division was taken at the Third Reading (97 in favour; 36 against)
(ii) Resolution under the Essential Public Services Act
(iii) Select Committee of Parliament to Investigate the Country's Economic Setback from November 2019 to date and Report to Parliament and submit its Proposals and Recommendations in this regard
(iv) Select Committee of Parliament to look into whether the child malnutrition issue in Sri Lanka is aggravating and to identify short term, medium term and long term measures to be taken in that regard, as well as to oversee the speedy implementation of the identified measures
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Graduate teacher recruitment through an examination and training” was proposed by the Hon. Upul Mahendra Rajapaksha.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1810 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Friday 20th January 2023.
