Announcements by the Speaker

“Honorable Members, His Excellency the President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resigned from the office of President with effect from 14th July 2022 in terms of Article 38(1)(b) of the Constitution, and the announcements in this respect will be presented to this House by the Secretary General of the Parliament now”

(i) Summoning of Parliament on Saturday, the 16th of July, 2022 at 10.00 a.m.
(ii) Letter of Resignation sent by His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa
(iii) Calling for Nominations on the 19th July 2022


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1013 Hrs. until 1000 Hrs. on Tuesday 19th July 2022.
