Issues faced by construction and other industries
Ministerial Statements
(i) Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies made a Ministerial Statement regarding the current economic situation in the country.
(ii) Hon. Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy made a Ministerial Statement regarding the current situation in the country regarding power and energy.
(iii) Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation made a Ministerial Statement regarding food situation in the country
House agreed to the following Motions moved by the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, the Leader of the House of Parliament -
(i) Ministerial Consultative Committees
The designations of the following Ministerial Consultative Committees shall be re-designated as per the decision taken by the Committee of Selection on 02nd June 2022:—
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Finance as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies”;
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Justice as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms”;
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour and Foreign Employment” ;
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Ports and Shipping as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Ports, Shipping and Aviation” ;
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Youth and Sports as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs” ; and
- The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Trade as the “Ministerial Consultative Committee on Trade, Commerce and Food Security”.
(ii) Ministerial Consultative Committees
That in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 112(1) of the Parliament, the following Ministerial Consultative Committees be appointed to be designated as per the decision taken on 02nd June, 2022 by the Committee of Selection:—
- Ministerial Consultative Committee on Transport and Highways
- Ministerial Consultative Committee on Tourism and Lands
Above each Ministerial Consultative Committee shall consist of the Cabinet Minister in charge of the relevant subject as the Chair, State Minister, Deputy Minister and five (5) other Members of Parliament to be nominated by the Committee of Selection to discuss and report upon such matters as are referred to it.
The quorum of the above each Ministerial Consultative Committee shall be three (3) Members.
The Bill entitled “Twenty Second Amendment to the Constitution” was withdrawn by the Hon. (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe with the leave of the House.

Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Special Statement made by the Hon. Prime Minister on 07.06.2022” was proposed by the Hon. Shehan Semasinghe.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1730 Hrs. until 1000 Hrs. on Wednesday 8th June 2022.
