(ii) this building has been arranged for his family by the Divisional Secretary of Kotapola on the recommendation of the Grama Niladari of Pallegama North due to the fact that the ancestral house of Mr. Tilakaratna has been identified by the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau as highly vulnerable for Earth slips?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he takes necessary steps to grant this land to Mr. Tilakaratna to build a new house by demolishing the old building; if not, any other suitable land to build a house; and
(ii) if so, when?

(i) the methodology of enrolling of students for university degree courses under the category of “Special Skills”, who have excelled in the fields other than studies; and

Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade,—
(i) gates have been fixed across the road that has existed from the times of British rulers to reach the Arunagama village in the area where the Horana Processing Zone of Sri Lanka Board of Investment is situated and security officers have been deployed at those gates keeping the gates locked with padlocks;
(ii) this road had been indicated in the plan of that area that had been drawn earlier, but it has not been indicated in the new plan that has been drawn by the Board of Investment;
(iii) the extent of land which includes this road, too, has been sold by the government for constructing a golf-course; and
(iv) the youth of this area have lost employment opportunities due to the construction of a golf-course in an area that has been allocated for establishing industries?

(i) whether it is permitted to sell a land together with a road that runs through it; and
(ii) whether it is fair to deprive the people of the right to use a road which provide them easy access to the main road?

(iii) whether he accepts the fact that 5000 field officers of Ampara District, are unlikely to get motorcycles due to aforesaid reason; and
(iv) whether steps will be taken to provide aforesaid field officers with motorcycles as a relief measure since there are no transport facilities in the difficult by roads of Ampara District?

(a) A housing project funded by a non-governmental organization in Saudi Arabia for the Tsunami affected people in the Ampara District constructed at the Norochcholai village in Akkaraipattu was suspended on a Court Order bearing Number 178/2008 delivered by the Supreme Court prior to houses being distributed amongst beneficiaries and though more than six years have lapsed since the delivery of the above judgment on 02.12.2009, the houses have not been distributed in accordance with the said court order resulting in the entire property becoming uninhabitable and therefore will he inform this House whether he instructs the Ampara District Secretary/Akkarapattu Divisional Secretary to act in accordance with the said court order?

(i) the monetary value of assistance distributed by now through co-operative societies and other institutions under the said project; and
(ii) the reason for implementing this programme of providing a bag of nutritious food through other private institutions when it is possible to implement the same island-wide providing benefits to a larger number of people through the co-operative societies system which operates with government involvement and proper supervision?
